Germany’s Labor Shortage Is Rapidly Worsening!
According to a new study by the German Economic Institute (IW), the shortage of skilled workers in the country could reach 723,000 by 2029.

The shortage of skilled workers in Germany’s labor market is becoming an increasingly serious problem. According to a new study by the German Economic Institute (IW), the country could face a shortage of 723,000 skilled workers by 2029. This represents an increase of around 47% compared with the 370,000 shortage recorded last year.
According to the study, the largest shortages are expected in several key sectors. The retail sector could face a shortage of around 39,000 workers, while childcare may be short of approximately 30,000 skilled employees. Social services, education, nursing, construction, automotive engineering and electrical engineering could also face serious challenges. Experts say that population aging, the growing number of people retiring, a decline in young workers and low birth rates are the main causes. According to the IW, unless more skilled immigrants come to Germany, the shortage of workers is likely to deepen in the future. This situation could negatively affect companies, economic growth and the country’s future labor market.
