Football clubs’ transfer spending has reached a record high!

The football transfer market continues to attract attention with record figures in 2026. According to FIFA, $9.89 billion was spent on international transfers in men’s football during the summer transfer window from June 1 to September 2. This was the highest figure ever recorded. More than 12,500 international transfers were also completed worldwide during the same period, setting another record.

English clubs maintained their financial dominance in the transfer market. Premier League teams spent a total of £3.48 billion during the summer window, breaking the previous record. Manchester City was the biggest spender, investing approximately £440.3 million in new players.

Overall, record spending in the transfer market shows that football has become not only a sport but also a major financial industry. Clubs are paying increasingly larger sums to strengthen their squads, while player valuations and competition in the transfer market continue to rise.
