The Laureate of the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences to Be Announced Today
The Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences, the final prize of this year’s Nobel season, will be announced on Monday in Stockholm by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences.
The laureate of this year’s Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences will be announced today, October 12, in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden.
According to the Associated Press (AP), the winner will be announced by the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences. This is the final announcement of the 2026 Nobel Prize season.
Last year, the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences was awarded to three researchers who studied business innovation. They explained how new products and inventions contribute to economic growth and improved human welfare by displacing established companies from the market.
The economics prize is officially known as the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel. It was established in 1968 by Sweden’s central bank in memory of Alfred Nobel.
It should be noted that this prize is not among the original Nobel Prizes specified in Alfred Nobel’s will. Nevertheless, it is traditionally presented alongside the other Nobel Prizes on December 10, the anniversary of Alfred Nobel’s death.
This year’s laureates in medicine, physics, chemistry, literature and peace have already been announced.
The prize money for the award in Economic Sciences amounts to 12 million Swedish kronor, equivalent to approximately 1.2 million US dollars. The amount may be awarded to an individual laureate, a group of several laureates or, where applicable, an organization.
