Record surge in copper prices

Copper prices have risen very rapidly in recent times and have approached record levels. Copper on the London Metal Exchange has been rising for 11 consecutive weeks. One of the main reasons for this increase is the large volume of copper being shipped to the United States. As demand for copper increases in the U.S., companies are importing more of the metal. As a result, copper supplies in other parts of the world are declining, pushing prices higher. In addition, a weaker U.S. dollar and expectations that the development of AI-related data centers will increase future demand for copper are also supporting prices. However, analysts warn that this rally could be risky. They believe that part of the price increase is driven not by actual demand, but by speculative buying from investors. As a result, copper prices may be overinflated. If interest rates in the U.S. remain high and the dollar strengthens again, investor interest in copper could decline. In that case, copper prices could fall rapidly. In other words, although the current rally looks strong, there is no guarantee that it will continue for a long time.
