Chinese cars are gaining market share in Europe!
Ahead of the negotiations, the EU is preparing new measures against hybrid cars imported from China.

The European Union (EU) is preparing for tougher negotiations with Beijing to reduce its growing trade deficit with China and prevent a potential trade war. EU Trade Commissioner Maros Šefčovič is expected to meet Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao this week to discuss the trade deficit, which exceeds $1 billion per day. Ahead of the negotiations, the EU is preparing new measures targeting hybrid vehicles imported from China. These measures could include additional tariffs on vehicles that exceed a certain import threshold.
In August, Chinese brands accounted for around 25% of hybrid vehicle sales in Europe. Germany and France are calling for tougher trade measures against rising imports from China. Beijing, meanwhile, has urged the EU to avoid protectionist policies and warned that new restrictions could harm negotiations between the two sides. The outcome of the talks is expected to be discussed at the EU leaders’ summit in Brussels next week.
