Formula 1’s Revenue Declined in 2026

Formula 1 is not just about speed and competition. It is a global business that generates substantial revenue through sponsorship deals, television broadcasting rights, and international races.

According to the financial report of Liberty Media, the owner of Formula 1, the organization’s total revenue reached $3.87 billion in 2025. This represents a 14% increase compared with 2024.

However, revenue declined in the first half of 2026. According to results released by Liberty Media, Formula 1 generated $1.381 billion in revenue between January and June. This was 15% lower than the $1.629 billion recorded during the same period in 2025. The company attributed the decline mainly to three fewer races being held during the reporting period.

Formula 1’s main revenue sources include race promotion, television broadcasting rights, and sponsorship deals. Teams also generate income through sponsorship agreements, partnerships, and other commercial activities.

International races also create economic opportunities for host countries. The influx of tourists can have a positive impact on hotels, restaurants, and other local businesses.

Thus, Formula 1 is not only a sport but also a global business model with a multibillion-dollar turnover.
