A possible meeting between US President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese leader Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Vietnam is under discussion.
Speaking to journalists on October 19, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that discussions about the meeting had taken place, but he did not know whether a final agreement had been reached.
Rubio stressed that Trump had openly expressed his desire to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Earlier, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov told The Wall Street Journal that the possibility of a trilateral meeting between Russia, the United States and China was being considered. However, he said that no concrete agreement had yet been reached regarding the organization of the meeting or its potential agenda.
