old prices fell!Gold Market Declines: Investors Await the Fed’s Decision

Gold prices edged lower on Monday as strong U.S. employment data boosted expectations that interest rates would remain elevated for longer. Market participants are awaiting U.S. inflation data due this week, which is expected to influence expectations for the Federal Reserve’s future interest-rate policy. Spot gold fell 0.5% to $4,405.47 per ounce, while U.S. gold futures also declined 0.5% to $4,452.20 per ounce. Tim Waterer, chief market analyst at KCM Trade, said recent data had put some pressure on gold. However, the outlook for a September rate hike remains unclear. According to the CME FedWatch tool, investors are pricing in a 58.4% probability of a rate hike at the Fed’s September 15–16 meeting.

Higher interest rates can reduce the appeal of non-yielding gold. Investors are also closely monitoring U.S. economic data. Market participants expect volatility in precious metals to continue ahead of the Fed’s decision. Among other precious metals, silver fell 0.2%, platinum declined 0.8%, and palladium dropped 0.7%.
