Apple’s first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, is projected to capture 29.8% of the global foldable smartphone market by 2027. According to TrendForce’s report, the company is expected to ship 5 million devices by the end of 2026, securing 24.8% of the market.
TrendForce estimates that the foldable smartphone market will grow by just 0.5% in 2026, while shipments from Android manufacturers are expected to decline by more than 20% year over year. However, the market is projected to grow by 16.3% in 2027, reaching 23.5 million device shipments.
According to the forecasts, Apple could become the second-largest player in the foldable smartphone market in 2027. Samsung’s market share is expected to fall from 35.1% to 31.9%, while Huawei’s share could decline from 24.8% to 21.3%.
The report identifies Apple’s key advantages as its integration of chip design, operating systems, and application ecosystems. The company’s entry into the market could intensify competition among foldable smartphone manufacturers and increase interest in multitasking capabilities. However, these figures represent TrendForce’s forecasts rather than confirmed sales results.
