Europe Prepares to Release Oil and Diesel Reserves to the Market!
According to Reuters, under the proposal, European countries could release 50 million barrels of diesel, while International Energy Agency (IEA) member states could release 50 million barrels of crude oil onto the market.

France has proposed releasing additional oil and diesel from strategic reserves to help reduce rising fuel prices in Europe. According to Reuters, under the proposal, European countries could release 50 million barrels of diesel, while member states of the International Energy Agency (IEA) could release 50 million barrels of crude oil.
The discussions are taking place as the US administration calls on Europe to release more fuel reserves. US President Donald Trump wants additional steps to be taken to lower fuel prices. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has urged European partners to accelerate the implementation of their existing commitments and release additional reserves to the market to address disruptions in diesel supplies.
French President Emmanuel Macron has also stressed the importance of coordination among G7 countries. Within the European Union, however, the proposal has not yet become a final decision. Countries are also considering the potential impact of reducing reserves on energy security. The main goal is to increase fuel supplies in global markets, ease price pressures and limit supply risks. The parties are expected to continue discussing and coordinating the issue in the coming days.
