South Korea to Invest Up to $200 Billion in US Energy Projects

US President Donald Trump has announced that South Korea plans to invest up to $200 billion in major energy projects in the United States.

According to Trump, the investment package includes the construction of a 6-gigawatt power plant in Texas, eight new large-scale nuclear reactors, and a liquefied natural gas (LNG) pipeline in Alaska. The Alaska pipeline is expected to transport around 4 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day.

The US president said the projects are expected to create thousands of new jobs and contribute to lower energy costs in the country.

It should be noted that in July 2025, Trump announced that the United States and South Korea had reached a trade agreement. Under the agreement, Seoul committed to investing $350 billion in the US. Of this amount, $150 billion is planned for cooperation in shipbuilding, while another $200 billion is intended for projects in other strategic sectors.
