OpenAI Expected to Raise Less Investment Than Initially Anticipated

OpenAI is expected to raise less funding than initially planned in its latest investment round. According to the Financial Times and CNBC, the company initially aimed to raise $30 billion, but the amount is now expected to reach a maximum of $20 billion. Despite this reduction, OpenAI's post-money valuation is expected to remain at $1.25 trillion.

According to reports, some investors have decided to reduce their planned contributions. Investors from the United Arab Emirates and Coatue are leading the funding round. However, the final amount could still change.

The reduction in the funding target is linked to growing concerns in the artificial intelligence sector. Investors are questioning whether the massive amounts technology companies are spending on data centers and graphics processing units (GPUs) will generate sufficient returns. Against this backdrop, Intel shares fell 25%, Micron declined 5.5%, and Nvidia dropped 4%.

High investment spending by Microsoft, Alphabet, and Amazon has also raised market concerns. Alphabet's AI-powered AI Mode service has attracted attention after its revenue fell short of expectations. Nevertheless, OpenAI's high valuation indicates that investor interest in the company remains strong. The final funding amount is expected to be announced once the round closes.
