Artificial Intelligence Investments Increase Financial Risks!
Bailey stressed the importance of maintaining the resilience of the financial system against potential market shocks.

Andrew Bailey, Governor of the Bank of England (BOE), said that the rapid growth in investments in artificial intelligence could pose risks to financial markets. In an interview with the BBC, Bailey said the BOE was closely monitoring the impact of large investment flows into AI companies on asset prices. According to him, markets currently appear to be pricing in the expectation that all companies in the AI sector will succeed. However, past experience shows that this is not always the case.
Bailey stressed the importance of maintaining the resilience of the financial system against potential market shocks. Intense competition among AI companies, high borrowing costs and growing public opposition to data centers are among the factors increasing risks in the sector. In the BOE’s latest systemic risk survey, the number of respondents identifying AI-related risks reached a record level. Bailey also said AI could become a powerful tool for exposing vulnerabilities in the financial system.
