Tesla CEO Elon Musk has showcased the high-speed performance and unusual maneuvering capabilities of the new Roadster model. The company’s presentation featured the vehicle jumping over other Tesla models and accelerating to 60 miles per hour in less than one second.
During the demonstration, Musk jokingly said that the car could take off into the air and perform complex maneuvers resembling gymnastic movements. He also noted that these features did not necessarily make the vehicle optimized for safety.
The presentation showed the Roadster jumping over other Tesla vehicles and performing a backward-flipping maneuver. Another demonstration claimed that the car could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph (approximately 97 km/h) in less than one second.
According to Tesla’s official website, reservations for the vehicle are being accepted, with three versions available: Performance, Motion, and Rocket. The Rocket version is available by invitation only.
According to the company, the Roadster can travel more than 300 miles (approximately 483 kilometers) on a single charge. The Rocket version is reportedly expected to reach a top speed of more than 230 mph (approximately 370 km/h).
