Stella Li made the remarks at the opening of the Paris Motor Show. According to her, the company is seriously evaluating the possibility of building a plant in France.
“France is on the shortlist. We are looking very closely at the possibility of building a factory in France,” Li said.
The company executive also noted that BYD plans to expand its production capacity in Europe. According to Li, the company is considering opening a second and potentially even a third plant in Europe.
Li also emphasized that BYD wants French consumers to perceive the brand as a French company.
“I want people in France to see BYD as a French company. I want them to love the brand,” she said.
No final decision on the construction of a plant in France has been announced so far. Such an investment could help BYD expand its manufacturing presence in the European market.
