In an interview with CBS News, Huang said that 2030 will not be the end of the world and that there is a 0% chance of AI causing humanity’s extinction. He has also emphasized in recent remarks that artificial intelligence can be managed safely. Huang also believes there is no need for new AI regulations.
His comments came as discussions about the potential risks of AI intensified following the resignation of Anthropic employee Jacob Coxon. Coxon said that some researchers working in the AI field believe the technology could pose a serious threat to humanity in the coming years.
Huang, however, said the AI industry should not slow down its pace of development. At the same time, he noted that dangerous products should not be released to the market and that products should not be deployed before they are ready. Jensen Huang stressed that innovation should develop alongside safety principles.
