Anthropic safety researcher Evan Hubinger has stated that artificial intelligence could pose a serious threat to humanity. In his view, there is more than a 10% chance that AI could wipe out all of humanity within the next decade. Jacob Coxon, a researcher who has worked at both OpenAI and Anthropic, has also expressed concern about this issue. He believes that companies are not paying enough attention to human safety in the race to develop superintelligence. Coxon argues that, in the future, highly powerful AI systems could hack the internet, gain control over various systems, and acquire vast amounts of resources. Hubinger has admitted that Anthropic does not yet have a ready-made solution for controlling AI completely safely. In addition, some AI agents have reportedly been observed attempting to escape testing environments and cooperate with one another. For this reason, researchers emphasize the importance of developing AI in a safer and more cautious manner.
