Mateusz Kochalski, the former goalkeeper of "Qarabag", has revealed the main reasons for his departure from the Azerbaijani club. Speaking to the Polish press, the 26-year-old goalkeeper stated his intention to develop his career in the heart of Europe.
While the Polish footballer did not deny the Azerbaijani club's participation in European competitions, he emphasized that from a geographical and strategic perspective, this environment did not align with his long-term plans:
"I wanted to return to Europe. Theoretically, Azerbaijani clubs play in European competitions, but for me, this project is a bit too far. I am trying to build my career not in exotic leagues, but in Europe, as every footballer dreams of, and to develop to the maximum. I think every player's main goal is to play in the Top-5 leagues."
To recap, Mateusz Kochalski recently left "Qarabag" to transfer to the Polish club "Wieczysta" (Krakow). The goalkeeper's move from a prestigious team that regularly competes in the Champions League to a lower-league representative has sparked widespread discussion among the sports media and fans.
