Russia Is Building an Alternative Satellite Network to Starlink
During a visit to an exhibition held as part of the Russia-Africa Summit in Moscow, Putin said that ties with American partners, including Elon Musk, remain in place.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that cooperation with the United States in the space sector continues despite political differences between the two countries.
During a visit to an exhibition held as part of the Russia-Africa Summit in Moscow, Putin said that Russia maintains ties with American partners, including Elon Musk. He stressed that preventing interference with one another in orbit and maintaining a certain level of order are essential.
Putin also emphasized that Russia's space agency, Roscosmos, and other Russian companies continue to work with their US partners.
He further announced that Russia is developing a low Earth orbit satellite system called “Rassvet,” which is intended to compete with Starlink. Referring to the scale of Elon Musk's satellite network, Putin noted that it has more than 5,000 satellites in orbit, while Russia is still taking its first steps in this field.
The “Rassvet” project is aimed at reducing Russia's dependence on foreign countries for communications and satellite infrastructure.
