Trump Appoints Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton to Lead New Federal AI Task Force.
WASHINGTON: U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday appointed Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton to lead a new government task force on artificial intelligence.

WASHINGTON : U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday appointed Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton to lead a new government task force on artificial intelligence.
Trump calls the body the "Super Intelligence Force." The name stems from his intention to use artificial intelligence as a "super intelligence."
The president announced the decision in a social media post. According to him, the task force will coordinate federal efforts to ensure America maintains its leadership in the world in the field of Super Intelligence. Trump also emphasized the importance of the technology: "Many say it is bigger than the Industrial Revolution and the Internet." He added that the task force will protect the interests of all Americans and improve their lives.
According to the Republican president, the task force will cooperate with a wide range of stakeholders. These include consumers, public interest groups, religious organizations, critical infrastructure providers, and artificial intelligence companies.
In addition to Clayton, the task force includes the following officials:
Andrew Ferguson , Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission;
Emil Michael , Chief Technology Officer of the Pentagon;
Scott Kupor , Director of the Office of Personnel Management.
The task force will report directly to Trump and his chief of staff, Susie Wiles.
The announcement came after Trump last week hosted senior executives of artificial intelligence companies at the White House. At that meeting, the president said the companies had signed a voluntary agreement under which they would effectively self-regulate the development of the technology.
