Nvidia takes a new strategic step in the chip market
The company will invest $3.5 billion in convertible bonds issued by MediaTek.

Nvidia is expanding its partnership with Taiwanese chipmaker MediaTek to strengthen its position in data centers and artificial intelligence. The company plans to invest $3.5 billion in convertible bonds issued by MediaTek. As part of the collaboration, MediaTek will use Nvidia technologies to enable faster and more efficient connections between components used in data centers. The company will also support data center operators in developing their own components, aiming to compete with Broadcom and Marvell Technology.
For Nvidia, the agreement is part of its strategy to expand the adoption of its technologies and standards across the AI ecosystem. The deeper partnership with MediaTek comes after Amazon decided to use an additional 2 million Nvidia GPUs. MediaTek has recently strengthened its position as a key design partner for major technology companies seeking to develop AI chips. The collaboration is expected to expand both companies’ opportunities in the data center and AI markets.
