Tesla Accelerates Robot Production!

Tesla is working to accelerate production of its humanoid robot, Optimus. The company aims to produce 1,000 robots per week by the end of the year. However, alongside reaching higher production capacity, ensuring that the robots can operate reliably in real-world conditions remains a key challenge. According to reports, some issues related to suppliers are affecting the production process. The production of Optimus’s hands is particularly complex. More than 100 components are used in the hands, and even a small assembly error can require additional work.

One of the robot’s main challenges is adapting to unexpected situations. Although Optimus can perform tasks it has been trained for, it may struggle when faced with new situations. For example, even a seemingly simple task such as picking up a box and placing it on a shelf requires the robot to adapt to different scenarios.

To address this challenge, Tesla has collected more than 500,000 hours of training data. The company is working to develop basic skills such as grasping, lifting and walking, which can then be used to teach more complex tasks. Ultimately, Optimus’s future will depend not only on production volume but also on how reliably it can operate in real-world conditions.
